Minutes from Meeting held on 9 June 2008

Dear Colleague

Thank you for all your on-going work for Epsom Mental Health Week.  Our next meeting will be on Monday 23rd June between 12noon and 2pm at St Barnabas Church, Temple Road, Epsom and lunch will be provided.

We had a good meeting on 9 June and the minutes follow.  Your correspondent was a little tired, so please forgive – and let me know – of any omissions or errors!  Thank you.

YOUNG PEOPLE The author/producer of the play has very generously waived her fee.  Becky Owen has a meeting with Leatherhead Theatre on 11 June to see if it would be possible to put the play on there during the week.  Becky will let Sue have the NESCOT drama department contact, will contact CAMHS re work with the younger age range in the schools and will also see if the author of the play would be happy to write something for the younger age range as well.

ART ‘Koestlers’ in London and ‘Art Matters’ in Surrey will be contacted by Sue for a possible art exhibition at the theatre and other venues during the week.  Dame Judi Dench, Stephanie Cole, Pam Ferris and Michael Caine are to be invited to attend.

SUNTRAP folk group are booked for the Friday evening of the week.

MARKET PLACE Alex Martin to let Sue know availability from Shift/Turning point of wristbands/pencils/etc., to give away as gifts during the week.
Gazebos were suggested as a suitable alternative if the Alzheimer’s caravan is not available for the week.

PUBLICITY The County Council and First Steps are to be contacted re a leaflet about Mental Health and Learning Disability Services in the Epsom area.

HISTORY EXHIBITION It is hoped to have the main exhibition at the Brickfield and smaller exhibitions available at other venues, including the Market Place.

TEE/SWEATSHIRTS  After discussion, it was agreed that sashes rather than tee/sweatshirts would be produced.  Badges will also be available. Alex Martin will check whether it is necessary to have the Trust logo on the sashes as people who work independently of the Trust and as advocates are involved in the week.

ISLAMIC SOCIETY hope to host a meeting at their new premises.

CARERS TEA PARTY will be run at the Brickfield by Diane Luck and Jackie Clark on Friday 10 October in the afternoon.

BROCHURE Please let Sue have synopses of any talks you may be giving and also a profile as soon as possible, so that the brochure can begin to be drafted.  Thank you.

Looking forward to seeing you on Monday 23 June at 12noon.

Kind regards
Sue
